A leading developer of games for social change, Boston-based Global Mind Games (GMG), has partnered with one of the world's most popular innovation forums for young people, Future Problem Solving Program International (FPSPI), of Florida. The partnership will showcase original Saturday challenges from FPSPI in GMG's social game, Global Innovation Game (GiG), played on Facebook. GiG plays as an international idea marketplace for aspiring change agents. Problem solvers interact with each other as they create solutions to topical challenges on global warming, technology, poverty, water, food, energy, freedom and more. With hundreds of challenges in its live stream, GiG has attracted players from 19 countries who create, buy and sell ideas using a virtual currency. Generating more than 1,000 solutions to the world's most pressing challenges, GiG has proven its importance as a platform for crowdsourcing meaningful ideas. FPSPI will draw millions of brainstorming innovators to special Problem Solvers Saturday challenges on GiG's real-time platform as an online, interactive addition to the FPSPI curricula. Fred Skoler, veteran games producer and president of Global Mind Games, anticipates meaningful outcomes from the partnership. "Smart kids, with big ideas, know that social media is empowering. GiG pairs the engagement of a game with social tools that amplify ideas globally and trigger real-world action. The FPSPI community brings energized problem solvers to GiG, where they can practice their problem-solving skills and lead global change through Global Mind Game's innovation platform." Future Problem Solving Program International's Executive Director Marianne Solomon adds, "The relationship of FPSPI with Global Mind Games is very exciting as our participants are given the chance to focus on global issues, research topics and envision and create solutions along with other problem solvers from around the world. Not only will participants utilize critical and creative thinking in GiG, but they will visualize innovative ideas while addressing global issues -- great practice for our future leaders!" The partnership with Future Problem Solving Program International is part of a worldwide effort to bring "idea brands" to the GiG platform, so the world can dream up ideas and then take real action that makes change.
